“I have been involved with the grid for more than thirty years,” says Marylyn Dintenfass, a New York artists- born and bred- who came of age in that city in the defiantly vibrant decade of the 1960’s. Studying initially with Abstract Expressionist painter John Ferren and muralist Barse Miller, Dintenfass began her professional life in the midst of artists like Larry Poons and Frank Stella. She found herself engaged by the possibilities of the grid at a time when artists, from Mark Rothko to Andy Warhol, seemed to be exploring its formal, psychological, and conceptual ramifications.
